FAQs

How can I get in contact with you?

You can email Julie at littlelakemetals@gmail.com, or follow the link on the About/Contact page

When can I expect my order to ship?

Your patience is appreciated as I am a very small shop and it may take me a few days to get to your order. It is my aim to ship items within two weeks of payment date - please see Shipping & Production for more information.

Will my piece look exactly like the one in the photograph?

All of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind (except for the North Collection) and the item you see in the photograph is the item you will receive. Please remember that each monitor/phone interprets color a bit differently, so slight variations in enamel color may occur.

Do you do custom work?

I’d be honored, please see my Custom page or contact me and we can discuss your ideas. Please note that custom orders are final sales.

What is enamel?

A decorative glass-like substance about the consistency of fine sand that is melted onto metal at a high temperature and then left to cool and become hard. Currently I am hand torch firing my pieces because that allows me more control over the design than firing them in a kiln does. All of my pieces have at least four layers of enamel on the front and two layers of counter-enamel on the back. The counter-enamel on the back begins as a blue/gray mix, but due to the repetitive high-heat layering process involved in creating the front design, it may appear scorched. This is normal and unavoidable. Enamel is a strong material, but please treat with care when handling. Dropping onto a hard surface may chip or crack the piece.

How do I care for my jewelry?

My jewelry is handcrafted with great care and should withstand years of normal wear. However, enamel may chip or crack if dropped on hard surfaces, so please use care when handling.

Enamel pieces may be cleaned with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasives and chemicals.  You can use a polishing cloth on the chain and metal parts.

Brass, copper and silver will eventually oxidize and attain a vintage look, but a polishing cloth can be used to remove tarnish if you prefer.  It is best to store your Little Lake Metal pieces in a sealed plastic bag when they aren’t being worn.

I recommend removing jewelry before showering and sleeping and avoid contact with lotion or hairsprays while wearing Little Lake Metals jewelry.
